BeCouply was selected for the NewME Accelerator

We are thrilled to announce that BeCouply was selected for the inaugural class of the New Media Entrepreneurship (NewME) Accelerator, a Silicon Valley startup accelerator with big-name sponsors like Google and Kapor Capital, along with a roster of prominent mentors and partners including executives and investors from Facebook, Foundry Group, Foursquare, Path, TechStars, Twitter, and others.

NewME is the first high profile accelerator focusing on minority led startups in Silicon Valley, which makes it a particularly great fit for BeCouply. With one black co-founder and one female co-founder, we give faces to two of the most under-represented groups in the tech industry today.

BeCouply is one of just eight startups hand-picked to participate full-time in the nine-week program, taking place June 16-August 18 in San Francisco, with a half dozen or so local startups also joining the group for certain events.  We couldn’t be more excited to have made the cut!

The NewME Accelerator is led by Angela Benton, founder and CEO of Black Web Media, and Wayne Sutton, social media expert and entrepreneur.

Sponsored by Google, Kapor Capital, Tagged, and Justin.TV, the organizers have also lined up prominent mentors and partners such as Stanley “M.C. Hammer” Burrell, Jason Calacanis, Stuart Crabb of Facebook, Tristan Walker of Foursquare, Brad Feld of Foundry Group, and Doug Williams of Twitter.

As always, this post is brought to you by BeCouply.  We're preparing to launch an awesome mobile and web app for couples with epic social lives. Sign up today for an exclusive invite to join!
